About the event
Life, Death, Fate & Farewell
Music is often said to express that which can’t be put into words, a non-verbal response to some of life’s most challenging topics: love, loss, despair, and death. Tchaikovsky’s Pathetique Symphony is such a passioned lament; “I often wept bitterly while composing it in my head,” he said. It is arguably his greatest work, possibly of all symphonic literature, and one which re-invented the form for composers who came after him. Paired with the world premiere of Tim Roll’s Cassini Overture, and the FHSU Choir’s performance of Rutter's Gloria, the evening promises to give voice to what makes us human.
